Tagging my Cat or Dog

Golden Doodle dog pictureCats and Dogs six (6) months of age or older are required to be registered and tagged within the City limits. The metal tags renew every January and may be purchased from City Hall at 115 E Smith St. Pricing below.

We will ask for the following information when registering
  • Owners full name
  • Owners phone number
  • Owners complete address
  • Vaccination papers for the animal
  • Breed of the animal (please see Prohibited  Animals)
  • Gender
  • Name of the animal
  • Color of the animal
  • Whether or not the animal has been spayed or neutered.
Pricing  (ordinance 020-1987-039)
  • For each neutered male dog or cat or spayed female dog or cat, three dollars, $3.00.
  • For each unneutered male dog or cat or unsprayed female dog or cat, fifteen dollars, $15.00.
An annual registration and licensing tax shall be due and payable on January 2 of each year or within three (3) days after a dog or cat is brought into the city or arrives at the age of six (6) months. All licenses expire on December 31 of the year issued. If the tax imposed and required to be paid by this ordinance is not paid within that time, the amount of such tax shall be and hereby is increased fifty cents, $0.50 for each calendar month or part thereof during which such tax remains unpaid. License shall become delinquent March 1 of each year. (This $0.50 per month will be assessed following the Lions Rabies Clinic.)

Prohibited Animals  (ordinance 020-2005-117)
  • Staffordshire bull terrier
  • American Staffordshire terrier
  • American pit bull terrier
  • Any dog which has the appearance and characteristics of being predominately of Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, American bull terrier, or a combination of these breeds.
  • Rottweiler
  • Any dog which has the appearance and characteristics of being predominately Rottweiler.
Any breed deviations must be approved by the City Administrator.
