Tagging my Cat or Dog
Cats and Dogs six (6) months of age or older are required to be registered and tagged within the City limits. The metal tags expire 1 year from purchased date. Tags may be purchased from City Hall at 115 E Smith St or the local Hesston Veterinary Clinic. Pricing below.We will ask for the following information when registering
- Owners full name
- Owners complete address
- Owners phone number
- Rabies Vaccination papers with Tag number & good thru date
- Name of the animal
- Breed of the animal (please see Prohibited Animals)
- Gender
- Color of the animal
$20.00 for each dog or cat.
The annual registration and licensing tax shall be due each year, or within three (3) days after the dog or cat is brought into the city, or arrives at the age of six (6) months old. All licenses expire one year from the date of issuing.
Prohibited Animals (ordinance 020-2005-118)
- Staffordshire bull terrier
- American Staffordshire terrier
- American pit bull terrier
- Any dog which has the appearance and characteristics of being predominately of Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, American bull terrier, or a combination of these breeds.
- Rottweiler
- Any dog which has the appearance and characteristics of being predominately Rottweiler.
Quantity of Animals Allowed in the City (Code 1990)
- 4 Dogs (6 months old or older)
- 4 Cats (6 months old or older)
- 8 Domestic Fowl (quantity exceptions based on square feet of property, No Roosters) (ordinance 020-2013-150)
