Two gateway signs have arrived and installation has started. The signs will serve as a welcome to our community and a positive first sight impression to residents and visitors. These signs will be built at the north and south entrances to the city. Two additional signs are planned for east and west locations, pending site determination.
One sign will be installed on the northwest corner of Old 81 and Lincoln near Warren Transport. It will face incoming traffic to the city. The other one will be installed on the northwest corner of Old 81 and Hickory near Stone Creek Nursery. Due to railroad right-of-way restrictions we were unable to site the sign on the east side of Old 81. It will be positioned on the west side facing oncoming traffic. The installation progress has been impacted by rain. As the weather cooperates you will see progress on those two locations.
The mill and overlay street project approved by the Council for the streets located in the Prairie Park and Country Acres additions will begin soon. Flint Hills Materials of Wichita has been awarded the contract and issued a notice to proceed with construction. Residents in that area will soon be receiving notice of the project and how it will proceed. Instructions regarding parking, ingress, and egress from the area, and a timeline of the project will soon be issued. If you live within that area and have questions or concerns related to this project, please call the Public Works Superintendent, Scott Robertson, at 620-951-4367.
